Truck driver killed, helper seriously injured in road mishap on Srinagar-Leh highway

Srinagar, June 5: A truck driver was killed while his helper brother seriously injured after the vehicle fell into a 200 ft deep gorge near Fotula Top on Srinagar-Leh highway in Leh district of Ladakh during wee hours on Saturday.

As per reports, the truck bearing registration number JK01P/8724 on way from Leh to Srinagar met with the accident at one of the highest mountain passes on Srinagar-Leh highway around 4 am this morning.

It resulted in the on spot death of driver while conductor was seriously injured who has been taken to hospital for treatment in a serious condition.

The deceased driver has been identified as Muhammad Aslam Famda, 30 and his brother Basharat Famda sons of Abdul Gani Famda residents of Fraw Haknar Gund.

A police official said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Khalsi Leh and further investigation has been taken up.
