Shopian, June 4, KDC: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed serious concerns over the attempts of shifting the recently installed Oxygen generation plant from District Hospital Shopian to some other location by the authorities and warned against any such misadventure.

In a statement issued to news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) PDP senior leader and Ex- MLA Shopian ,Advocate Mohammad Yusuf Bhat said that on Thursday night, the authorities tried to lift the Oxygen Generating plant from shopian with an aim to install it somewhere else which led to massive public resentment forcing authorities to abort the move after gauging the public mood and under pressure from public who protested till midnight.

“A remote and a newly established district like Shopian that is already struggling owing to inadequate healthcare infrastructure can ill afford such an uncalled for and anti-people move. We want to tell the authorities to desist from such a misadventure and not play with the lives of people of the district,” Advocate Mohammad Yusuf said.

Reacting sharply to the incident, PDP District President Shopian and Ex-MLA Wachi, Advocate Aijaz Ahmad Mir said that what transpired in Shopian looked like a proverbial midnight heist wherein the people were almost robbed of the life saving oxygen generating facility in times of pandemic.

“Ours is a far flung and hilly area. In times of pandemic, the oxygen generating plant is a crucial lifeline for the patients not only from Shopian but also for parts of Pir Panjal area who visit the hospital through Mughal road. The attempts to lift and relocate the Oxygen Generating Plant is clearly a crime against people of the area which is completely unacceptable,” Advocate Ajiaz Ahmad Mir said. (KDC)
