Srinagar, May 24, KDC: The Jammu and Kashmir Rural Development Society Chairman & former Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly Haji Mubarak Gul on Sunday presided over an online review meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Rural Development society to take stock of the underway activities carried out by society’s functionaries during the prevailing pandemic.

The meeting which saw a huge participation of JKRDS functionaries saw a interchange of ideas and thoughts between the participants about the prevailing crises like situation the society is facing in the face of Covid-19 spread and the possible efforts which the society members can render in its capacity to aid the efforts of administration in battling it.  The marathon meeting that lasted for an hour saw the participants’ voice against various loopholes in the efforts of the government to curb the viral sprawl and the mortalities resulting from it. During the meeting, the society members also applauded the administration, frontline workers, and ground staffers including medics and Paramedics for putting on a brave face against the deadly viral spread. All the members of the society were on the same page in appreciating the efforts of various social voluntary organizations and individuals for lending support to the efforts of administration in curbing the viral spread. During the course of interaction, the members also sought improvement in testing, tracing and treatment mechanisms.

The speakers were unanimous in their appeal to the LG government to issue global tenders for speeding up the vaccination drive in Jammu and Kashmir to achieve the universal inoculation target without delay. The issue of deficiency of Medics, and Paramedics in PHCs, TB centers, Sub-District Hospitals, Trauma centers and other government designated Covid centers was also raised by various members, who then unanimously impressed upon the LG administration to engage medical and Para medical graduates and Post graduates to make good of the deficiency across all the districts of J&K.  The members also expressed their unison with the lacs of ASHA workers and impressed upon the administration to redress their grievances. The members also expressed unison with scores of families whose loved ones were devoured battling Covid infection. A silence of a few minutes was also maintained as a mark of tribute to the brave hearts that lost their battle of life to Covid. In addition to it, the JKRDS Chairman led all the members in praying for fast recuperation to the infected people undergoing treatment at various health facilities.

In his interaction with the  functionaries , JKRDS Chairman instructed society’s District heads to give five volunteers from JKRDS to their concerned DC, so that they can assist District administration to cope with Covid related exigencies.  He also appreciated the Society members for helping people with ration, free medicine & other essentials, impressing upon them to amplify the efforts by reaching out to marginalized sections including hawkers, laborers, and handicapped.  Gul also asked the  incumbent administration of J&K to dole out extra ration to consumers and called for extending the benefits availed by BPL families to APL during the breadth of Covid induced curbs, curfew and lock down.

On the occasion JKRDS Vice Chairman & fomer Minister Babu Rampal also Spoke about setting up Oxygen plants in every hospital. He said the facility will boost up the Covid care in hospitals. He also urged the administration to ensure availability of Covid care drugs, vaccines, and testing kits across all government designated Covid centers in J&K.  The Vice Chairman also impressed upon the society members to act as a bridge between administration and people during these trying times.

Others who spoke on the occasion sought intervention of society to impress upon the LG for raising monthly Covid sustenance allowance from paltry Rs.1000 to 5000. The members also sought inclusion of laborers, small marginal traders, hawkers, transporters, and artisans into the package. The participants also expressed concern over the distribution of substandard ration in Baramulla and other adjoining areas.

The online meeting was attended by JKRDS functionaries including Prov. Chairman Jammu Krishan Lal Abrol, Prov. Chairman Kashmir Haji Mohammad Maqbool Mir, Prov. Senior Vice Chairman Jammu John Willson, Prov. Senior Vice Chairman Kashmir Mohammad Ashraf Khan, Joint Secretary J&K Adv. Rajinder Chanyal, Prov. Vice Chairman Jammu Hemraj, Prov. Vice Chairman Kashmir Safder Ali Khan, Youth Wing Chairman Adv. Yunis Mubarak Gul, Chairman North Kashmir Khwaja Mohammad Shafi, Chairman Central Kashmir Mohammad Rafiq Khan, Secretary Central Kashmir Javaid Ali Beigh (Janbaz),Secretary North Kashmir Peerzada Mohammad Amin, District Chairman Baramullah Abdul Majeed Akhoon and others.

On the occasion the participants expressed deep sympathies with the senior leader and Former MLC Bushan Lal Bhat on the demise of his son Shri Sunil Bhat. Sharing in the grief the Chairman led the society functionaries in expressing heartfelt condolences to the bereaved and praying for peace to the departed. (KDC)
