Two militant killed in Srinagar encounter, searches underway

Srinagar, May 17, KDC: Two militants have been killed in an encounter that broke out between security forces and militants in Khanmoh area of Srinagar district on Monday.

An official told News Agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that, a joint team of SOG and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Shah Mohalla Khonmoh area here.

He said as the joint team of forces encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.

“Two unidentified militants have been killed in the gunfight. The searches are underway, adding that incriminating materials, including arms and ammunition, were recovered from the site of encounter.

“The bodies of the militants shall be sent for burial after the completion of all medico-legal formalities. The nearest family members of the killed local militants may be allowed to participate in the last rites”, he told KDC.
