Srinagar, May 10, KDC: Former minister and senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Naeem Akhtar was on Monday shifted by the authorities from MLA hostel to his residence in Friend’s Enclave in Humhama in Budgam.
According to News Agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC), Akhtar, who was detained in December last year and jailed in MLA Hostel at MA Road under section 107/151 by the Executive Magistrate orders, was shifted to his residence today afternoon.
As per the order of the Executive Magistrate, Akhtar had sought release on grounds of his health issues and in view of the Supreme Court directions to release political prisoners during COVID-19 pandemic.
“His request is accepted and the detainee is shifted to subsidiary jail (MLA hostel Srinagar) to his residence at Friends Enclave in Humhama Budgam where SHO Budgam is directed to ensure detention of Naeem Akhtar under section 107/151,” reads the order, a copy of which lies with news agency KDC.
Naeem was detained on 21 December, 2020 and was lodged at MLA hostel in Srinagar. He was earlier placed under detention on August 05, 2019 and was released nearly after ten months in 2020. (KDC)
