Srinagar, April 17, KDC: A woman was injured after paramilitary CRPF fired upon a vehicle in Awantipora area of Pulwama district in South Kashmir on Saturday.
A police officer told KDC that CRPF men fired upon a ‘suspected’ vehicle which does not stop at a Naka point near Padgampora, leading to the injuries to a lady identified as Jaisi Parvaiz Sheikh, who was later shifted to a SDH Awantipora for treatment where from she was referred to Bones and Joint Hospital Srinagar for further treatment.
The officer said her condition is reported to be stable by doctors.
Police in a statement to News Agency KDC said “One vehicle Wagnor bearing registration No. JK01J- 8038 was signaled to stop by a Police person namely constable NaserUllah at Awantipora Chowk at about 15;15 hours, but the driver hit said police cop and escaped from the spot. The vehicle again signaled to stop at Padgampora Bridge but again it didn’t stop.”
“The CRPF 130Bn deployed on NAKA there has firstly fired warning aerial shots but the driver remained defiant and didn’t pay heed to stop the vehicle. Thus, Due to mistaken identity over great suspicious act of driver; the vehicle was fired upon by CRPF party, resulting its tyre burst and also in the ensuing incident one lady namely Jaisi Parvaiz Sheikh Daughter of Parvaiz Ahmed Sheikh (who was travelling on the said vehicle) resident of Muran Pulwama sustained bullet injuries in her right arm. Moreover, driver of vehicle namely Junaid Tariq Dar son of Tariq Ahmed Dar resident of Bedalpora, Handwara got arrested and vehicle seized. Further investigation is on, the statement added. (KDC)
