DC Shopian tours Sub-division Zainpora, inspects restoration of essential services, road connectivity

Shopian, Jan 24, KDC: The Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Shrikant Suse today toured Sub-division Zainpora  and other areas of tehsil Shopian to take stock of snow clearance and availability of  essential commodities in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner accompanied by  SDM Zainpora and BMO Zainpora visited SDH Zainpora and inspected various wards and sections of the hospital including emergency, operation theatre, ECG unit, X-ray, gynae, post operation ward, labs etc.

On the occasion, he enquired about the availability of medicines, diagnostics and other facilities available in the hospital.

While interacting with the patients and  attendants, DC enquired about their wellbeing and the facilities provided to them.

DC also visited Moolu, Trenz, Chitragam villages from tehsil Shopian where he interacted with people and enquired about the availability of essentials. He also monitored snow clearance operations in these areas.

He was informed that all major roads including Shopian-Srinagar, Shopian-Bijbehara and Shopian-Kulgam were cleared of snow on the priority basis. He was apprised that various agencies including R&B , MED and Municipal Committee Shopian are  carrying out the snow clearance work at full pace and majority of roads have been cleared while remaining lanes and by-lanes shall be also cleared.

DC stressed on  using all efforts to ensure speedy snow clearance and prompt response to the public grievances post snowfall.

He directed the health department to provide better health facilities to the general public at  hospitals and ensure all doctors and paramedical staff follow duty roster religiously besides ensuring  better patient care.

To curb black marketing, profiteering and hoarding, the DC directed FCS & CA department to conduct  market checking and take strict action against the offenders.

He also directed PDD to ensure timely restoration of damaged transformers and power lines. He impressed on Jal Shakti Department to restore non-functioning water supply schemes at an earliest.

Similarly, Additional Deputy Commissioner and ACR  Shopian also visited District Hospital Shopian, SDH Keller to inspect functioning of health services. The team also reviewed snow clearance operations in the area.

Meanwhile, SDM Zainpora and Tehsildars reviewed the status of restoration of essential services in their respective jurisdictions. (KDC)
