70 health workers including 40 HODs and Doctors at SKIMS Srinagar and 30 HODs and Doctors at GMC Jammu have volunteered to take the first COVID shot of the recently received Covid-19 vaccine. Doctors have decided to volunteer in order to clear the apprehensions and bring confidence among the health workers across the UT of J&K. The first batch will receive this vaccine at SKIMS Srinagar and GMC Jammu on Saturday.
The covid-19 vaccination drive will kick start on Saturday and 1.7 lakh health workers will be vaccinated as a part of the first vaccination drive. As many as 1, 46, 500 vaccine shots have been received, out of which 79,000 are for Kashmir and 67,500 were received at Jammu. Senior officers had also informed that “the vaccines will be airlifted to far flung areas which are cut off due to recently received heavy snowfall, so that health workers receive the vaccination in the most difficult and inaccessible areas.
