Srinagar, Dec 4, KDC: Threat posters have surfaced in north Kashmir’s Wagoora Tehsil of Baramulla on Friday, calling for boycott of District Development Council (DDC) and Panchayat elections.
Local sources informed news agency Kashmir dot Com-(KDC) that posters were pasted on shop shutters and other places in various localities of the Wagoora town in north Kashmir appealing the general public to boycott the DDC and Panchayat polls.
“Posters, written in chaste Urdu, have been printed on the letter heads of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) militant outfit,” sources said.
As per the local sources the poster reads, “Some people in Kashmir are trying to defame the freedom struggle by participating in the elections. Those people are warned to stay away from elections otherwise their end will be gruesome and they will be killed in such a brutal way that the whole Kashmir nation will remember it. They (collaborators) should mend their ways at the earliest or face dire consequences.”
Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Abdul Qayoom refuted the reports saying that we are working on ground and no such posters were visible anywhere in the district Baramulla. (KDC)
