Srinagar, Dec 01, KDC: Amid ongoing polling for 2nd Phase of DDC elections, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday arrested the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Rouf Bhat and after keeping him under detention for more than one hour released him.
The reasons behind detaining the PDP leader could not however be known.
Rouf Bhat while talking to news agency Kashmir Dot Com-(KDC), said that he was detained by the police station Shehrgari for unknown reasons and was detained for more than one hour.
However, sources said Rouf Bhat was released from Police Station after detained him more than one hour.
Meanwhile, PDP President Mehbooba Mufti while reacting to the arrest of Rouf Baht on twitter said, “PDPs @RoufBhat has been detained again on the day municipal election is being held in Srinagar. GOI by subverting democracy reminds me of the cycle of rigged elections in the past, which is one of the reasons J&K is in turmoil. How long will @ECISVEEP ignore such malpractices?.”
“In 2002 BJP’s Vajpayee ji promised & ensured free & fair elections in J&K. And in 2020 the very same BJP is going all out to ensure every election here from municipal to DDC is manipulated & rigged,’’ she said in her tweet. (KDC)
