Srinagar, Aug 26, KDC: Corporator Danish Bhat, on Friday resigned as advisor to Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) and alleged that SMC has been made hostage by some people for their vested interests.

According to news agency Kashmir Dot Com, in a series of tweets Danish, who is the Corporator from Ward 60 Botshah Mohalla said “SMC has been taken hostage by few people for their vested interests and I can’t be even remotely a part of it. I’m hereby resigning as the Advisor to Mayor Srinagar.”

He said “SMC EC has not approved any works plan for year 2022-23 & the plan submitted to the Govt. has no approval as no EC meeting was called to discuss any works plan for 2022-23. The plan submitted to the Govt. is completely illegal & politically motivated.”

“In complete violation of Municipal Act, 2000 works plan was submitted to the Govt. without any nod from Executive Committee.

“It has been done to benefit few wards in the city and a particular political party when majority of wards are made to suffer,” Danish said.

He further said that it’s more astonishing to see how some senior officers of the LG administration are being facilitators to this trampling of democratic institutions. I request Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene and save the sanctity of democratic institutions. (KDC)
