Ganderbal, May 22, KDC: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested six gamblers in Lar area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Police in a statement to News Agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) said “Acting on a specific information regarding gambling in the jurisdiction of Police Station Lar, a police party from Police Station Lar under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ganderbal raided the gambling site at Bab Solina Yongora, Lar and arrested six persons.

They said that the accused persons have been identified as Zahoor Ahmad Khan, Mohammed Shafi Bhat, Majid Ali Bhat @ Shandaar all residents of Yongora, Hilal Ahmad Reshi resident of Gratbal Safapora, Bashir Ahmad Bhat resident of Safapora and Abdul Rashid Mir resident of Baroosa, Ganderbal.

Officers have seized stake money of ₹7120/-, playing cards, motorcycle bearing registration number JK05B-4071 and a vehicle Hyundai i-20 bearing registration number JK01AK-8947 from the gamblers. They have been shifted to the Police Station where they remain in custody, it said.

The statement said accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 14/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Lar and investigation has been initiated.

Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units, statement added. (KDC)
