Blames authorities of irresponsible approach

Srinagar, Dec 04: International Forum for Justice and Human Rights JK Chairman Ahsan Untoo today decried over the alleged poor medical facilities available at Srinagar Central Jail.

Untoo who was released from the Central Jail this year after over one year long detention said in statement that the lack of medical treatment and non availability of proper consultation has led to death of several jail inmates who could have been otherwise saved given timely and proper medical treatment.

Untoo alleged that the Medical Superintendent of Central Jail doesn’t not provide ambulance for hospital outside jail for proper consultation and treatment.

In every jail ambulances are available under the control of jail superintendent for emergency treatment but these ambulances are mostly used for officials families while the inmates are hardly given services.
He termed all the 5 deaths in jails this year as “custodial killing and judicial killings”.

The inmates who died in jails include
Ghulam Muhammad Bhatt a resident of Kolangam Kupwara in mid march 2020 at Agra jail, Mujeeb Sadiqi of Srinagar under trail died on 11 June 2020 at central jail Srinagar, Ali Muhmmad Kumar of Charishrief Budgam died on 28 June 2020 at central jail Srinagar, Ghulam Muhammad Lone of Bandipora died in 6 Nov 2020 at central jail Srinagar and Ghulam Nabi Bhatt of Shangus Kulgam at Kot Bilwal Jammu died on 3rd December 2020.
