Srinagar, Mar 20, KDC: Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Friday through its rebuttal using a local newspaper against the story carried by KDC was again caught lying after they named ex-commissioner of the corporation for cancellation of tender.

News Agency KDC yesterday carried a news story titled as ‘’SMC halts 8 crore project aimed to generate 300 jobs after qualified agencies refuse to fall in line”. The story is based on concrete evidence and facts for which the news agency is ready to come up before any probing agency.

The erring officials are trying to malign our story by manipulating things using some local media houses.

Furthermore as per reports, Kuchay traders (L1), Aasim communications (L2) were not qualifying the basic criteria laid down for qualifying the Labour law as well as abnormal low bid given in the labour rights as per Article 14, 16,38 and 39 of 1970. However, the Assistant Labour Commissioner had confirmed the Minimum wages Act in accordance to the Labour laws by Kuchay Traders (L1) through a letter sent in reply to the SMC’s communication.

Moreover, as per the norms the contract committee was supposed to write to the L3 for negotiation but as per reports L3 was verbally communicated for the negotiation.

It’s worthwhile to mention here that under Public Service Guarantee Act (PSGA) any government file has to be disposed of within a period of 45 days but ironically the said tender is languishing from the last eight months without any logical or solid grounds.

As per the rebuttal issued yesterday by SMC has named Ex-Commissioner for cancellation of tender which is far from the reality as ex-commissioner had approved the file and had convened a meeting of contract committee a day before he was transferred therefore the said meeting was never convened. By naming ex-commissioner erring officials of SMC were again caught lying.

Meanwhile Financial Advisor/Chief Accounts officer (FACAO) while talking to KDC questioned the functioning of the government by saying they have not received the funds for the said recruitment project.

The question which remains unanswered is how come the tender which was floated four times in last year for the said project was issued without possession or approval of required funds.

Meanwhile, SMC Commissioner, Athar Amir Khan told KDC that the matter will be thoroughly looked into and whosoever is found guilty will be strictly dealt with and action under law will be initiated against them, adding that no one will be spared. (KDC)
