Srinagar, Oct 21: The Jammu and Kashmir  Government has enhanced the monthly stipend payable to MBBS and BDS interns, including Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs), from ₹12,300 to ₹25,000 per month, with effect from October 1, 2026.

According to Government Order No. 747-JK(HME) of 2026, issued by the Health and Medical Education Department on October 21, the sanction has been accorded for the enhancement of the monthly stipend for interns pursuing medical and dental training across the Union Territory.

The order, issued from the Civil Secretariat, Jammu and Kashmir, follows a reference to the Finance Department’s communication bearing U.O. No. FD-Code/69/2026-AO-1068, dated October 20, 2026.

As per the government order, the revised stipend of ₹25,000 per month will be applicable to MBBS and BDS interns, including Foreign Medical Graduates, with the enhanced rate taking effect retrospectively from October 1, 2026.

The order has been issued by the Health and Medical Education Department under the signature of Saugat Biswas, IAS, Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Health and Medical Education Department.

Copies of the order have been forwarded to the concerned authorities, including the Finance Department, Accountant General, Jammu and Kashmir, principals of Government Medical Colleges across the Union Territory, the principals of Government Dental Colleges in Srinagar and Jammu, the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir/Jammu, and other concerned departments for information and necessary action.

The enhancement marks a revision in the monthly stipend payable to medical and dental interns in Jammu and Kashmir, bringing the amount to ₹25,000 per month under the newly issued government order.
