Baramulla, October 19, KDC: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Jammu and Kashmir, has filed a chargesheet against Mudasir Ahmad Najar, a Postal Assistant posted at the Sub Post Office Bandipora, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹6,500 in connection with the release of a subsidy under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).

According to the ACB, a complaint was received at Police Station ACB Baramulla alleging that the accused had demanded illegal gratification for releasing the subsidy component of a loan availed by the complainant through the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Pampore.

An amount of ₹1.75 lakh was pending as subsidy for the complainant’s business unit in Bandipora, subject to physical verification and geo-tagging by the concerned public servant, the ACB said.

Following a discreet verification, the ACB registered a formal case at Police Station ACB Baramulla under FIR No. 05/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

During the investigation, the accused was allegedly caught red-handed while demanding and accepting ₹6,500 from the complainant. He was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.

The ACB said the investigation was concluded with the allegations found to be substantiated. The competent authority subsequently accorded the requisite sanction for prosecution after examining the material collected against the accused.

The chargesheet was accordingly presented before the Court of the Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Baramulla, on October 19, 2026, for trial and judicial determination. (KDC)
