Baramulla, July 5, KDC: A resident of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK), who was apprehended after inadvertently crossing the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district in May this year, was repatriated to Pakistan through the Kaman Aman Setu crossing point on Friday, officials said.

Officials identified the individual as Zeeshan Mir, son of Lal Mir, a resident of POJK. He had been apprehended by security forces after crossing the LoC in the Uri sector on May 31, 2026.

Following the completion of all legal and administrative formalities, Zeeshan Mir was formally handed over to officials of the Pakistan Army at the Kaman Aman Setu on July 4.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Uri, Prince Kumar, was present during the repatriation process, which was carried out in accordance with the established protocol.

Officials said that during his stay in India, Zeeshan Mir was treated with dignity, compassion and due care. They said the repatriation reflected the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Baramulla district administration’s commitment to humanitarian values, adherence to established procedures and professional conduct.

The repatriation was completed peacefully after coordination between the concerned authorities on both sides of the Line of Control, officials added. (KDC)
