Srinagar, April 27, KDC: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday presented a charge-sheet against an accused public servant in a bribery trap case before the Court of Additional Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Srinagar.
ACB in a statement to news agency Kashmir Dot Com said that, the charge-sheet was filed in FIR No. 07/2022 registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 at Police Station ACB Srinagar Kashmir against accused Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh, then Computer Operator in PWD (R&B) Circle Ganderbal.
The case was registered on March 2, 2022, following a written complaint alleging that the accused had demanded ₹4,000 as bribe for issuance of a D-Class contractor card.
Acting on the complaint, the ACB laid a trap during which the accused was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount from the complainant. The tainted money was recovered on the spot, while subsequent chemical tests reportedly confirmed the presence of phenolphthalein on his hands.
ACB said that during investigation, sufficient evidence was gathered establishing commission of offence under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act against the accused, identified as Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh, son of Mohammad Shafi Sheikh, a resident of Bamloora Ganderbal.
After completion of all legal and departmental formalities, the charge-sheet was presented before the court on April 27, 2026, for judicial determination.
The next date of hearing in the case has been fixed for June 10, 2026. (KDC)
