Srinagar, Apr 20: Deputy Inspector General of Police, South Kashmir Range, Javaid Iqbal Mattoo on Monday undertook a detailed assessment of the crime and security situation in Pulwama, directing officials to tighten the security framework and step up action against criminal and anti-national elements.

During his visit to the district, the DIG chaired a high-level meeting at the District Police Lines (DPL) Pulwama, which was attended by SSP Pulwama Tanushree and other senior officers, including supervisory officers, Station House Officers and investigating personnel.

The meeting focused on evaluating the overall law and order scenario, progress in investigation of cases, handling of NDPS-related matters, and implementation of preventive strategies. A thorough review of the existing security setup was also carried out, with particular attention to counter-terrorism measures and strengthening of the anti-terror grid.

Stressing the need for close coordination among various security agencies, the DIG called for intensified area domination and further strengthening of intelligence networks to effectively counter any threats. He instructed officers to remain vigilant and ensure swift response mechanisms to deal with emerging challenges.

Highlighting the importance of professional policing and public support, he urged officers to adopt proactive approaches to sustain peace and stability in the district. He also emphasised strict action against drug trafficking and other criminal activities.

Earlier, SSP Pulwama Tanushree briefed the meeting on the prevailing security scenario and outlined the measures being taken to maintain law and order and curb criminal activities in the district.

Police reiterated their commitment to ensuring public safety, maintaining order, and reinforcing the security grid across Pulwama.
