Srinagar, Apr 17: Traffic on the Bandipora–Gurez road was suspended on Friday after fresh snowfall rendered the Razdan Pass unsafe for vehicular movement, officials said.
The 85-kilometre route, which serves as a crucial link between Bandipora and the remote Gurez Valley, was closed as a precautionary measure due to slippery surface conditions and reduced visibility at the high-altitude pass.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate Gurez, Mukhtar Ahmad, confirmed the suspension of traffic, stating that the road will remain closed until conditions improve and further orders are issued.
Officials said the latest spell of snowfall has affected mobility in the area, prompting authorities to halt movement to prevent any untoward incidents.
The administration has advised commuters and local residents to avoid travel on the route and to follow official updates regarding the reopening of the road.
