New Delhi, July 1, KDC: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested six individuals, including three doctors, for facilitating the submission of favourable inspection reports to medical colleges in exchange for bribes.
A spokesman of CBI in a statement to Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com said that a case was registered against the office-bearers of Shri Rawatpura Sarkar Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh; the inspecting doctors; and other intermediaries for allegedly manipulating the statutory inspection process required for the recognition of the medical college. The designated assessors reportedly gave favourable reports in return for illegal gratification.
Acting on credible information that officials of Shri Rawatpura Sarkar Institute were influencing assessors deputed for inspection, the CBI laid a trap and caught six individuals during the transaction of a bribe amount of ₹55 lakh. As per the demand made by the inspecting doctors, the money was delivered in Bengaluru.
The arrested individuals will be produced before the competent courts at the respective locations.
The accused reportedly used various modus operandi to manipulate the inspection process by illegally influencing the designated assessors.
The CBI has launched searches at more than 40 locations across Karnataka, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Madhya Pradesh in connection with the case.
