Srinagar, June 15 (KDC): In a push to advance grassroots development in Jammu and Kashmir, the Nalwala Foundation has received assurances of support from two of the region’s most prominent leaders—National Conference president Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah—during a series of meetings held in Srinagar.
According to a statement, Hussain, Head of the Nalwala Foundation, presented the organization’s comprehensive development agenda aimed at uplifting underserved communities, particularly in north Kashmir’s Baramulla, Bandipora, and Kupwara districts. A key highlight of the discussion was the proposed installation of tubewells in remote villages that are grappling with an acute shortage of clean drinking water.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah welcomed the initiative and assured Mr. Hussain of his full support, including facilitation in acquiring government land to ensure smooth and timely execution of the tubewell project.
Later in the day, Mr. Hussain met with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who reviewed the Foundation’s broader humanitarian work in the Valley. This includes food kit distribution, support for handcart vendors, housing aid, and the provision of winter essentials like traditional pherans and blankets to the most vulnerable.
The Chief Minister appreciated the Foundation’s sustained engagement with the people of Kashmir and assured the government’s cooperation to further expand its reach and impact.
“These initiatives are not just about infrastructure. They are about dignity, survival, and restoring hope,” Mr. Hussain said, expressing gratitude for the “overwhelming support” extended by both leaders.
The Nalwala Foundation—working in the sectors of health, education, livelihood, and disaster relief—aims to begin the tubewell installations over the next six months. The project is expected to directly benefit thousands of rural households. (KDC)
