Srinagar, 22 April, KDC: The Jammu and Kashmir Women Lawyers Association has unequivocally condemned the terrorist attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam, which resulted in tragic loss of life and injuries. In response to this heinous act, the association has announced a one-day suspension of work by all women lawyers on April 23rd, 2025, as a show of solidarity with the victims and their families.

In a statement issued to Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com, the association expressed its deep sorrow over the devastating attack and offered heartfelt condolences to those affected. “This tragic incident has sent shockwaves throughout our community, leaving an indelible mark on the families of the victims,” the statement said, reaffirming the association’s commitment to standing with the grieving families and the people of Kashmir during this difficult time.

The Jammu and Kashmir Women Lawyers Association condemned the attack as a direct assault on humanity, peace, and the region’s rich cultural heritage. “The attack on tourists is an attack on all of us. Such acts of terrorism have no place in our society,” the statement emphasized.

In addition to condemning the attack, the association called for swift and thorough action by the authorities to investigate and apprehend the perpetrators. They urged for a collective, unified effort to combat terrorism and preserve the peace and harmony of Jammu and Kashmir.

The association also announced a one-day suspension of work on April 23rd, 2025, as a token strike to protest the violence and demand justice for the victims. “This token strike is a mark of protest against this heinous act of terrorism and a demand for justice for the victims and their families,” the statement noted.

Heena Sultan, President of the Jammu and Kashmir Women Lawyers Association, reiterated the association’s dedication to upholding justice, human rights, and the rule of law. “As women lawyers, we pledge to support initiatives that safeguard the well-being and dignity of all citizens and visitors,” she stated.

The association closed its statement by standing in solidarity with the victims, demanding justice, and calling for a safer, more just Jammu and Kashmir for everyone. (KDC)
