Srinagar, Apr 07: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday evening arrived in Kashmir on the second leg of his three-day Jammu and Kashmir visit.

Sources said that Shah landed at Srinagar Airport at around 06:35 pm. He was accompanied by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, BJP J&K president Sat Sharma and Leader of Opposition in J&K Legislative Assembly Sunil Sharma.

At the airport in Srinagar, Shah was received by chief minister Omar Abdullah, his Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, Commissioner Secretary Shantmanu, IGP Kashmir Vidhi Kumar Birdi, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, and senior leader of Jammu and Kashmir unit of the BJP.

Shah arrived in Jammu on Sunday evening where he presided over a crucial meeting of party leaders at Jammu headquarters.

He also visited the International Border in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district where he addressed contingents of Border Security Force (BSF).

The Union Minister is supposed to take a review of the security situation with top brass of security agencies in Kashmir valley and other developmental issues with Lieutenant Governor-led administration and Omar Abdullah-led elected government.

After landing at the airport, Shah visited the family of DSP Humayun Bhat.

Humayun, 32, was one of four officers killed during an encounter with terrorists in south Kashmir’s Kokernag area on September 13, 2023.

He was honoured with the Kirti Chakra on Independence Day 2024 for extraordinary bravery.
