Srinagar, Feb 27, KDC: The ruling National Conference has strongly condemned the authorities’ decision to disallow the Namaz-e-Janazah of Dr. Sibtain Masoodi at Jama Masjid, Srinagar, calling it “deeply regrettable and wrong.”
The party in a post on X, as per Kashmir Dot Com, stated that such actions contradict claims of normalcy in the region and further erode public trust.
The National Conference termed the move “regressive” and an indication of the administration’s lack of confidence in its own assertions of peace and stability. “It is precisely these kinds of steps that reveal the lack of trust the authorities have in their own governance,” the party said.
Criticizing the police for imposing restrictions, the statement added, “The police, in their short-sighted approach, fail to realize that restricting such basic rights only further erodes the trust and goodwill of the people.”
There has been no official response from the administration regarding the decision. (KDC)
