SRINAGAR: Despite its promise of transparent and timely grievance resolution, the ‘JK SAMADHAN’ system launched by the Jammu and Kashmir administration has left many citizens frustrated, with complaints remaining unresolved for weeks or even months.
The portal, according to Srinagar-based news gathering agency Kashmir Dot Com intended to streamline citizen grievances, is currently failing to meet its intended objectives.
“I filed my grievance over a month ago, but all I see is ‘forwarded’—no updates, no action. It’s like they’ve just forgotten about it. We were promised transparency and speed, but the system is just as slow as before,” Mohd Amin, one of the complainants said.
“I lodged a complaint regarding a local issue affecting my business. It’s been weeks, and the status still shows ‘forwarded.’ This is the third time I’ve used the portal, and each time the response has been the same—nothing gets done. The system needs to be fixed, or it’s just a waste of time,” Another Shopkeeper from South Kashmir said.
“When the LG launched this system, we thought it would be a turning point for governance here. But after submitting my complaint, I’m left with no feedback, no resolution. The public deserves better than this,” another retired government official said.
“I filed a complaint about a school-related issue a month ago. There’s no follow-up, no accountability. The ‘forwarded’ status doesn’t mean anything if the issue isn’t resolved. It’s disappointing that something so important isn’t being handled properly,” said Aijaz Ahmad.
They appealed to the administration to take immediate steps to revamp the ‘JK SAMADHAN’ portal and ensure it functions as a truly responsive and effective grievance redressal mechanism. (KDC)
