SRINAGAR: Member of Legislative Assembly from Pulwama and senior PDP leader, Waheed Parra strongly criticized first resolution passed by Omar Abdullah’s Cabinet, which urges the Centre to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, calling it a “ratification of the August 5, 2019 decision” that revoked J&K’s special status.
Parra according to Kashmir Dot Com expressed disappointment that no resolution was passed on restoring Article 370, accusing the National Conference of scaling down its demand to mere statehood. “This is a huge setback, especially after seeking votes on the promise of restoring Article 370,” Parra said, adding the disillusionment among voters who expected the party to push for reinstatement of the abrogated provisions.
His criticism comes after the J&K Cabinet, led by Omar Abdullah, passed a resolution urging the Centre to restore statehood to J&K in its first meeting. The resolution will be personally submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi by the Chief Minister in New Delhi. (KDC)
