Srinagar: An encounter has broken out in the Chak Tapper area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, with local police and the 29 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) actively involved in the operation.
According to initial reports, security forces were mobilized following credible intelligence about the presence of militants in the area.
The Baramulla Police, in coordination with the 29RR, swiftly launched a cordon and search operation, which subsequently led to an exchange of fire between the security forces and the suspected militants.
Kashmir police in a tweet on X said “#Encounter has started at Chak Tapper Kreeri Pattan area of #Baramulla. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.”
Police have reinforced the area, and residents have been advised to stay indoors. (KDC)
