Srinagar, August 23, KDC: The Srinagar police have taken cognizance of an incident and registered an FIR under relevant sections of the law pertaining an alleged assault in the Madankha area of Nowgam, Srinagar.

The incident, according to Srinagar-based news gathering agency Kashmir Dot Com, which went viral on social media, involved a man who sustained severe injuries after being beaten with a cricket bat.

“The police have taken cognizance of an incident resulting in grievous injuries to an individual who was beaten with a cricket bat in Madankha, Nowgam. FIR No. 74/2024 under sections 191(2), 191(3), 126(2), 131, and 109 BNS has been registered in PS Nowgam,” the police said in a post on ‘X’.

“An investigation into the case has been initiated. Two accused persons have been arrested, and efforts are underway to arrest the other accused,” they added.

Notably, a 13-second video clip surfaced on social media, showing a group of young men engaged in a fight. One of the individuals was seen lying on the ground, seemingly in pain after being struck by a cricket bat. (KDC)
