Srinagar, Aug 02, KDC: The Election Commission of India (ECI) will visit Jammu and Kashmir from August 8 to 10 to access the readiness for the upcoming assembly elections.

Highly placed sources told Srinagar-based news gathering agency Kashmir Dot Com that Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and SS Sandhu, will lead the visit, focusing on ensuring a smooth and fair electoral process in the Union Territory.

“The visit will begin in Srinagar with discussions with key political parties to understand their perspectives and address any concerns about the elections,” they said.

They said that the commission will also meet with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), State Police Nodal Officer (SPNO), and Central Forces Coordinator to review security measures and logistical arrangements.

Additionally, the ECI will conduct a comprehensive review session with top officials, including the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police (DGP), and district election officers, to assess administrative preparedness and ensure that all protocols are properly in place. (KDC)
