Srinagar, Aug 01, KDC: Celebrated Bollywood director Madhur Bhandarkar has hailed Kashmir as a prime location for film shooting and urged the Tourism Department to spotlight its lesser-known, picturesque locales. Speaking at the J&K Film Conclave held at the International Convention Centre on the scenic banks of Dal Lake, Bhandarkar expressed his admiration for the region.
“It’s a great honor to be here in Kashmir for the J&K Film Conclave,” Bhandarkar said according to news agency Kashmir Dot Com. “I’ve been visiting Kashmir frequently for the past 17 years, sometimes twice a year. I have many friends here, and the food and locations are simply amazing. The initiatives by the J&K Administration to promote film shooting are commendable.”
He emphasized the potential for undiscovered areas to attract filmmakers. “The breathtaking locations here must be explored further by the Tourism Department,” he added.
Bhandarkar highlighted the positive impact of the conclave, stating it would resonate throughout the Indian film industry and attract more directors and producers to the region. He praised the J&K administration’s single-window initiative for simplifying the shooting process, applauding the efforts led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
“Film shooting always brings benefits to the local population,” Bhandarkar remarked. “The film industry is no longer just about Mumbai; the South Indian film industry is also making significant strides,” he added. (KDC)
