Srinagar, Nov 23, KDC: Prominent student leader and National Convenor of J&K Students Association, Nasir Khuehami here today lashed out at Baramulla Parliament Segment Member of Parliament, Mohammad Akbar Lone, for his abysmal performance during his tenure as a representative of the Baramulla Constituency.
Khuehami in a statement to Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com said that over the course of four and a half years, Lone’s track record reveals a disturbing pattern of incompetence. With a meager five questions posed and a glaring absence of any inquiries on behalf of his constituency during the initial three years, there is a profound sense of neglect suffered by the people of Baramulla constituency. The people of North Kashmir entrusted him with the responsibility to be our voice, and he has let them down gravely.
He mentioned that the two questions directed towards Baramulla’s issues out of the handful raised magnify the failure of representation under Lone’s leadership. He was tasked with the solemn responsibility of being our voice; however, Lone’s failure resonates as a profound disappointment. His attendance record of 45 percent is a stark reflection of his disinterest in fulfilling his duties as our representative.
Khuehami emphasized that this blatant disregard is utterly unacceptable, particularly when considering his consistent absence from pivotal parliamentary proceedings. This neglect not only showcases a lack of commitment but also contributes to a disservice to the very people Lone was elected to serve.
Khuehami urges the residents of Baramulla to seek a new leader—one who is not only capable but also committed to standing up for the genuine interests and well-being of the region. It is time to unite and strive for a brighter future by seeking a more capable and committed leader who will truly stand up for the interests and well-being of the people of Baramulla, he added.
He has failed to meet the expectations of his own constituency and district Bandipora. Speaking and working for the people of Baramulla and Kupwara is too far. We tried to reach out to him many times with student issues, just to press them for the earliest redressal, but our pleas always fell on deaf ears. He never put any effort into solving the issues of Kashmiri students. (KDC)
