Srinagar, June 26, KDC: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti has raised serious concern over the deteriorating health of Dr. Hamid Fayaz Ameer, a senior Jamaat-e-Islami leader currently lodged in Central Jail Srinagar. Citing reports of his critical condition and urgent need for surgery, she urged the Government of India to intervene with compassion.
“Another family is plunged into anguish as distressing reports emerge from the Central Jail Srinagar regarding the deteriorating health of Dr. Hamid Fayaz Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami. His condition is critical and he urgently requires surgery,” Mehbooba posted on X. She stressed, “Even behind bars a person does not cease to be a human being nor does the State’s responsibility end at the prison gates. It is a moral and constitutional duty to ensure the well-being of every citizen especially those in custody and awaiting trial.”
Appealing directly to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, she added: “Earnestly appeal to the Government of India to take a compassionate and humane view of Dr. Hamid Fayaz’s condition.” (KDC)
