Srinagar, June 10, KDC: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday arrested two accused including Superintendent of CGST, Amroha and a Tax Advocate in an ongoing investigation into a bribery case.
CBI in a statement according to Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com said that a case was registered by CBI on 09.06.2025 on the basis of a complaint against the two said accused. “The Complainant controls the business affairs of his family concern private company. The allegation in the complaint was that the accused Superintendent had issued penalty notice to the complainant’s family concern private company on account of non-filing of GST returns. It was alleged that both accused had demanded undue advantage of Rs. 4 lakh from the complainant for waiving off penalty on the private company. Both accused were caught red-handed while accepting illegal gratification of Rs. One lakh (as the 1st installment of demanded undue advantage of Rs. 4 Lakh) from the complainant.” the statement said.
“Searches were conducted at the residential premises of accused public servant Superintendent, CGST, Amroha and Gajraula, which led to recovery of 17 property documents, worth in crores in the name of accused public servant and his family members. These properties include 03 residential flats at Ghaziabad and Moradabad, One Commercial shop at Moradabad, 12 residential plots at Rampur and Gajraula. One Creta vehicle in the name of accused public servant was also seized.”
CBI further said apart from the trap amount of Rs.1 Lakh, another Rs. 3 Lakh was also recovered and seized from the residential premise of accused public servant. During search of official premise of accused public servant, relevant documents pertaining to the case were seized and are being scrutinized.
Later, both the accused were produced before the Ld. Special Judge, Anti Corruption, CBI Court, Ghaziabad and sent to judicial custody, it said, adding that investigation is continuing. (KDC)
