Srinagar, April 29: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday raised alarm over the safety of Kashmiri students studying across India in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack. She said she has been receiving distressed calls from students who are living in fear due to rising tensions and instances of intimidation.

“Some institutions have postponed exams and advised students to return home until normalcy is restored, while others have taken no such steps,” Mehbooba said in a statement, urging Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Chief Ministers of all states to intervene immediately and ensure the protection of Kashmiri students until they can safely return.

She also condemned the surge in communal hate being spread on social media platforms, calling for strict action against those trying to stoke division.

“A strong message must be sent to those spreading communal hate online. These divisive forces must be identified and dealt with firmly to maintain peace and harmony,” she added.

Mehbooba called on authorities to coordinate with educational institutions and local police to prevent any escalation and ensure the safety and dignity of students from Jammu and Kashmir.
