Jammu, April 24: An army soldier was killed in an exchange of fire with terrorists in the Dudu area of Basantgarh in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Thursday.
According to the Army’s Knight Corps, the operation was launched jointly with the Jammu and Kashmir Police based on specific intelligence inputs.
“Based on specific intelligence, a joint operation with @JmuKmrPolice was launched today in Basantgarh, Udhampur. Contact was established and a fierce firefight ensued,” the Army posted on micro-blogging platform X.
“One of our bravehearts sustained grievous injuries in the initial exchange and later succumbed despite best medical efforts,” the post added.
Additional reinforcements have been rushed to the area, and the operation was ongoing when last reports came in.
