Srinagar, April 22: Five tourists were injured on Tuesday after militants opened fire in the Baisran area of Pahalgam in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. The incident has triggered a swift response from security forces, and the area has been cordoned off.

Souirces said that two local and three non-local tourists sustained bullet injuries in the firing incident at the popular Baisran meadow, a well-known tourist destination in Pahalgam.

“Two tourists have been injured after militants fired at them. The injured have been evacuated for medical treatment,” the sources said.

Security forces rushed to the spot soon after the attack and launched a cordon-and-search operation to track down the attackers. The area remains on high alert, and additional reinforcements have been deployed to ensure the safety of civilians and tourists.
