Srinagar, Apr 16 (KDC): In a decisive move to enforce urban planning regulations, the Enforcement Wing of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Wednesday launched a demolition drive against unauthorized constructions in the Khayam and Karanagar areas of the city.
The drive, carried out under the directions of the SMC Commissioner, is part of the Corporation’s ongoing efforts to curb illegal constructions and ensure adherence to building norms within city limits.
According to officials, the enforcement team, supported by necessary machinery and resources, executed the operation swiftly and with full observance of safety protocols to avoid any inconvenience to the public.
An SMC spokesperson said the action aims to uphold the integrity of Srinagar’s development plan and send a clear message about the importance of compliance with building bylaws. “Such encroachments disrupt the city’s regulated growth and cannot be allowed to continue,” the official said. (KDC)
