SC Collegium Clears Shahzad Azeem, Another Officer as Judges for J&K High Court

Srinagar, Apr 16 (KDC): The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meeting held on April 16, 2025, has approved the appointment of two Judicial Officers as Judges of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

According to an official communication, the officers cleared for elevation are Sanjay Parihar and Shahzad Azeem.

Shahzad Azeem is currently serving as the Registrar General of the High Court, a senior judicial position of District & Sessions Judge rank. In this capacity, he oversees matters related to Gazetted Officers of the District Subordinate Judiciary and the High Court, along with the High Court staff. He is the overall incharge of the High Court Registry and also handles matters pertaining to the Judges of the High Court, reported news agency Kashmir Dot Com.

Judge Sanjay Parihar, born on December 19, 1968, in Kishtwar, began his judicial career in 1997. He has served as Principal District and Sessions Judge, Jammu, and as Special Judge for Anti-Corruption (CBI Cases), handling high-profile matters. Notably, he rejected bail in a case involving charges under the Official Secrets Act.

The appointments will come into effect following the issuance of formal warrants by the President of India. (KDC)
