Srinagar, Apr 16, KDC: MLA Pulwama ,Waheed Ur Rehman Parra launched a scathing attack on the National Conference (NC) on Wednesday, accusing the party of decades-long duplicity and complicity in the political disempowerment of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Reacting sharply to recent revelations made by former RAW chief A.S. Dulat in his book, Parra said the disclosures “tear away the NC’s last remaining veil” and expose the party’s “well-rehearsed charade” of resistance.
“All those fiery speeches, the staged outrage, the carefully crafted image of fighting the BJP – it was all theatre,” Parra said in a told Kashmir Dot Com. “A performance designed to mislead people into believing the NC was standing guard over their rights, when in fact, they were quiet facilitators of our disempowerment.”
He questioned the credibility of the NC’s political legacy, alleging that the party stood by in silence as Article 370 was systematically eroded over the years. “Their legacy is not one of resistance, but of convenient silence dressed up as statesmanship,” he said.
Parra further said that the NC’s political strategy has long revolved around normalising the post-August 5, 2019 status quo, under the guise of ‘popular governance’. “This entire script was written to justify the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A, and to endorse the climate of fear that followed,” he added.
Terming Dulat’s revelations as a “mirror held up to decades of hypocrisy and opportunism,” Parra said that what the people of J&K are witnessing now is not a revelation but a confirmation of long-held suspicions.
“The truth is harsh but undeniable: generation after generation, the NC has built its political fortunes on the back of our dispossession,” he added. (KDC)
