Bandipora, Apr 10 (KDC): Police in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district arrested eight individuals on Wednesday for allegedly promoting terrorism and secessionist activities while being affiliated with proscribed separatist organisations.

According to a statement, the arrests were made during raids at multiple locations in connection with separate cases registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Three members of the banned Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) were arrested in Case FIR No. 04/2024 at PS Bandipora. They were identified as Nazir Ahmad Ahangar of Shahgund Hajin, Sheikh Danish Mushtaq of Aloosa Bandipora, and Tahir Ahmad Mir of Plan Bandipora.

In FIR Nos. 07 and 62/2024 at PS Sumbal, police arrested Ghulam Din War of Naidkhai (JKDFP), Khursheed Ahmad Lone of Naidkhai, and Mohammad Shafi Dar of Shahgund (JKPL).

Two more TeH members, Abdul Majeed Gojri and Abdul Majeed Lone of Vigpara Hajin, were held in connection with FIR No. 06/2024 at PS Hajin.

Police said objectionable materials, pamphlets, and mobile phones were recovered from the accused. “The arrested were involved in motivating youth and recruiting new members to carry forward the separatist agenda,” a police statement said.

Police said that any individual found furthering violent or secessionist ideologies will face strict legal action. (KDC)
