Banihal, March 7: A truck driver lost his life in a collision inside the Banihal-Qazigund four-lane tunnel late Thursday night.
According to police, the accident occurred when multiple trucks, traveling in a row towards Jammu from the Kashmir Valley, collided inside the tunnel.
Rescue teams, including police and personnel from Aathan Company responsible for tunnel maintenance, evacuated the injured driver and rushed him to Banihal Hospital. However, doctors declared him brought dead.
The deceased has been identified as Sukhdev Singh, son of Bakhtwar Singh, a resident of Pallipora, Punjab.
A case has been registered at Banihal police station, and further investigation is underway.
