Srinagar, Feb 22, KDC: Acting on a report from the CID wing of J&K Police, the Jammu and Kashmir government has constituted a three-member committee to investigate alleged misappropriation of government funds by engineers of the Public Works (R&B) Department in Shopian. The inquiry pertains to financial irregularities in road projects sanctioned under NABARD XXIII.
According to Government Order, issued by Bhupinder Kumar, IAS, Secretary to the Government, Public Works (R&B) Department, the committee will be chaired by Engineer-in-Chief Tanveer Mir, with Chief Engineer DIQC J&K, Er. Atul Bali, and Superintending Engineer Anantnag Circle, Er. Ishfaq Mohmad Beig, as members.
The committee as per Kashmir Dot Com has been tasked with examining the details of the projects, including the strengthening and upgradation of the Checki Kachdora to Checki Nowgam and Chetripora Kaprin roads. It will review the sanctioned costs, allocated funds, executed work, and adherence to contractual agreements, procurement guidelines, and engineering manuals. Additionally, the panel will determine the reasons for the delay in project completion, including the construction of a bridge.
The committee is required to submit its report and findings to the administrative department within 15 days. (KDC)
