Srinagar, Feb 19 (KDC): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids at multiple locations, including the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar, as part of an ongoing probe into a corruption case against Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, Secretary of Labour and Employment Development.
According to highly placed sources, a joint team of CBI officials from Chandigarh and Srinagar searched Ranjan’s office in connection with a case registered under FIR No. RC0512025S0003 on February 17, 2025. The case pertains to alleged disproportionate assets and corruption under Section 5(2) read with 5(1)(e) of the Jammu & Kashmir Prevention of Corruption Act, Svt. 2006, and Section 109 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC).
“The inquiry into the case dates back to 2006, and after gathering substantial evidence, the CBI initiated search operations today,” a source told Kashmir Dot Com.
Apart from Srinagar, simultaneous searches were carried out at six other locations, including Jammu, Varanasi, Gurgaon, and Patna, making it a total of seven targeted raids. The operation is focused on investigating the alleged accumulation of disproportionate assets by Ranjan, who holds four key departmental positions in the Jammu and Kashmir administration.
