Gulmarg, Feb 17: The second leg of the 5th Khelo India Winter Games, which was set to begin here on Saturday, has been postponed due to insufficient snowfall in the region.
Officials stated that the new dates for the event will be announced after a fresh assessment of weather conditions.
“The Jammu and Kashmir leg of the Khelo India Winter Games has been postponed,” a sports ministry source told PTI.
The snow events, including alpine skiing, nordic skiing, ski mountaineering, and snowboarding, were to be held in Gulmarg. However, the lack of sufficient snow at Affarwat Peak and Gulmarg Bowl has forced organizers to delay the competition.
A fresh assessment will be conducted after February 19, following expected snowfall, an official said.
The first phase of the Games took place in Leh from January 23 to 27, featuring ice events such as hockey and skating. (PTI)
