Srinagar, Jan 25, KDC: A medical team, under the supervision of Tehsildar Hazratbal, Naib Tehsildar Harwan, and Block Medical Officer (BMO) Hazratbal, sealed the quackery clinic of Ghulam Qadir Reshi, also known as Qadir Resh (Hakeem), in Syedpora Bala, Harwan in summer capital Srinagar. The team also collected samples of ‘’medicines’’ as part of the investigation.
A senior official from the team confirmed that the samples would be sent for laboratory analysis to determine their composition and compliance with medical standards. “Ensuring the health and safety of the public is our top priority. Action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation,” the official told Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com.
Further details about the findings and possible implications are awaited as authorities proceed with the investigation.
Earlier, in an official communique, the Head of the Department of Paediatrics at GMC urged the Principal of GMC Srinagar to take strong measures against the practice of quackery.
“With profound reverence and humble submission, I request your esteemed self to protect public health and safety. We need to take strong measures against the practice of quackery,” reads the official communique.
“Over the past few years, several cases of acute liver failure have been reported in patients who were previously discharged from this hospital. After leaving the hospital, they sought miracle cures in Dara Harwan, where they received unproven medical treatments and complementary therapies. This led to them being admitted to the ICU with acute liver failure and, unfortunately, dying,” it continues.
“Kindly take all necessary measures against such unqualified individuals to safeguard future generations,” the communique added. (KDC)
