Srinagar, December 20: The President of the J&K Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC), Wajahat Hussain Durrani, has expressed profound grief over the untimely demise of Vishal Sharma, a Rehbari Janglaat worker from Doda. Durrani attributed Sharma’s tragic passing to financial instability and job insecurity.
Extending his condolences, President Durrani said “Vishal’s death starkly reflects the struggles of our unsung heroes who tirelessly serve society under relentless uncertainty. EJAC stands in solidarity with his grieving family.”
In a statement issued by the UT Spokesperson, Mir Bashir Ahmad, EJAC urged the government to implement a clear regularization policy for daily wagers, Rehbar-e-Khel, Rehbar-e-Janglaat, and Rehbar-e-Ziraat workers. The organization also called for the enforcement of the Minimum Wages Act until regularization is achieved. Furthermore, EJAC demanded that bereaved families be brought under the provisions of SRO-43 to ensure financial assistance and social security.
EJAC described Vishal Sharma’s untimely demise as a stark reminder of the urgent need for systemic reforms to safeguard the livelihoods of temporary workers. “We urge the government to act decisively to prevent further tragedies and secure the future of these vital contributors,” Durrani added, pledging EJAC’s unwavering support for workers’ rights across J&K.
