SRINAGAR: In an anti-militancy operation near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor sector, security forces successfully neutralized three militants on Tuesday morning. The operation followed an initial encounter that erupted after militants launched an attack on an Army convoy, leading to a rapid and intense response from security forces.
The operation, which boke out in the Jogwan village, saw one of the militants killed on Monday evening after reportedly opening fire on an Army ambulance. The final assault on the remaining militants took place early Tuesday near the Assan temple in Khour, where they were cornered. The encounter was marked by heavy gunfire and explosions as the security forces closed in, using specialized tactics led by special forces and NSG commandos.
“All Three Hardcore Terrorists Eliminated Post Intense Firefight After round the clock surveillance through out the night, an intense firefight unfolded today morning resulting in a significant victory for our forces. Relentless operations and tactical excellence has led to the elimination of three terrorists. The operation also saw the successful recovery of war-like stores, marking a critical step in maintaining security in the region,” Army informed in a tweet.
To locate and track the militants, the Army deployed advanced resources, including four BMP-II infantry combat vehicles for enhanced surveillance and reinforcement, along with helicopters and drones. A four-year-old Army dog named Phantom, known for its service and bravery, was fatally wounded during the operation. (KDC)
