SRINAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday criticized the traditional political families in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that the three political families—Muftis, Abdullahs, and Gandhis—have given “nothing but ruin” to Jammu and Kashmir, accusing them of exploiting the region for decades.
“These three families—Muftis, Abdullahs, and Gandhis—wonder how anybody can question them. They think grabbing power by any means and looting people is their birthright,” he said.
In his address during a rally at SK Stadium in Srinagar, Modi as per Kashmir Dot Com while highlighting the recent elections, said that this was the first time voting occurred “without the shadow of terrorism,” expressing pride in the high voter turnout, which surpassed 80% in some districts.
He further accused these political families of fostering a culture of hate and neglecting the youth, stating, “They have sold the merchandise of hate for several decades in their market of hate. These families were happy to give stones in the hands of youngsters.”
“Our goal is the rapid development of Jammu and Kashmir. Today, I have come to you with the message of increasing the zeal and momentum for Jammu and Kashmir’s progress,” he said.
He described the enthusiasm of the youth and the support from the community as a sign of “Naya Kashmir,” promising a brighter future for the region.
The elections for the 90-member assembly are being held in three phases, with the first phase concluded on September 18 and the next two scheduled for September 25 and October 1, with results to be announced on October 8. (KDC)
