SRINAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed his condolences on the passing of Mohammad Shafi Pandit, the first Muslim IAS officer from Kashmir. Pandit, a highly respected figure, passed away at the age of 80 after battling cancer.
Speaking during a rally in Srinagar, Modi said, “I have received the news that Mr. Mohammad Shafi Pandit, one of the first IAS officers from Kashmir and a source of pride for the region, passed away last night. Even after his retirement, he continued to work for the welfare of society. In this time of sorrow, our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
Pandit had served in various important positions and continued his philanthropic efforts post-retirement, leaving behind a legacy of service to Jammu and Kashmir. (KDC)
